Contract Awarded – Mansfield Connect
Westworks would like to extend congratulations to Kier Group on their successful appointment to the initial phase of the Mansfield Connect project. Kier has been tasked with leading the design and redevelopment of the former Beales department store building in the center of Mansfield town.
According to projections from Mansfield District Council, on-site work is scheduled to commence in January 2025 with an anticipated completion date approximately two years later. Plans call for demolishing most of the existing structure while preserving the art-deco facade from the former Co-op building as part of the new construction.
Further project specifics will be determined throughout phase one, which includes the submission of a subsequent planning application expected later this year. Mansfield District Council’s Executive Mayor Andy Abrahams has emphasized the significance of Mansfield Connect as a crucial town center regeneration initiative.
The project aims to revitalize the long-vacant Beales site by transforming it into a versatile community hub offering enhanced access to public services, facilities for entrepreneurship and skills development, new amenities for the town center, and a revitalized streetscape with reopened retail units.
The former Beales building was acquired by the council in December 2021 as a key component of its Town Centre Masterplan. This aligns with the numerous regeneration projects and developments currently underway across Mansfield.
Westworks is delighted that Kier Group has secured this important project via our Development and Construction DPS, and we look forward to witnessing the positive impacts it will bring to the Mansfield community.
