Procurement Act Legislation: How Westworks will support our clients

On Monday 24th February 2025, the Procurement Act officially comes into effect, aiming to make public sector procurement more flexible, transparent, and accessible.

It also aims to save money for the public sector and businesses, to support economic growth and social value, and to open public procurement to new suppliers (such as small businesses and social enterprises).

The Act will also require public bodies to provide consistent feedback to suppliers in the form of bid assessment summaries. An assessment summary must be provided to every supplier who submitted an ‘assessed tender’, following a competitive tendering procedure, to explain why their tender was either successful or unsuccessful.

So that Westworks can best support our suppliers and public sector members/DPS users, the team have undertaken government ‘Knowledge Drop’ training, and will be attending the Procurement Act Live exhibition on Thursday 27th February.

How Westworks will be supporting our members and users:

Our members and users can continue to access our DPSs as normal, safe in the knowledge that our existing solutions are compliant with Public Contract Regulations. Rest assured that there will be no changes to any existing contracts you have awarded via any of our DPSs, and any future awards via our existing DPSs will continue under Public Contract Regulations (PCR 2015) until the expiry of the DPS.

Our team are on-hand to support you and welcome any queries or general discussion about this legislation.

What the Procurement Act means for suppliers:

For suppliers, the Procurement Act will bring more transparency to opportunities and provide a single place to register and manage key information for bidding. This makes the process smoother, especially when handling multiple bids at once.

The Act ensures that public procurement opportunities are visible in a central location via the Central Digital Platform (CDP) making it easier for suppliers to search at no cost and set up alerts for tenders of interest to you.

This legislation is especially beneficial for small businesses, start-ups, and social enterprises, as it focuses on removing barriers to tendering and improving access to public contracts.
