Building Remediation Hub – how can Westworks help?
On Monday 8th April, Homes England launched the ‘Building Remediation Hub’ – an online platform welcoming new applications for government funding aimed at replacing hazardous cladding on medium and high-rise structures throughout the country, exceeding 11 metres.
The Building Remediation Hub streamlines the application process for those accountable for building safety and ensures consistent data collection, regardless of building height.
Starting on 8th April 2024, new applicants to the Building Safety Fund (BSF) utilizing the Hub are required to have a Fire Risk Appraisal of External Walls (FRAEWs) conducted by a Homes England panel and to submit it in the designated format.
Who’s eligible to apply for government funding?
Individuals can apply if they fall into one of the following categories:
– A Responsible Entity (the legally responsible party for the building),
– An authorized representative of a Responsible Entity, or
– A registered provider of social housing, provided they’re eligible for government funding and have pursued all reasonable avenues to recover costs associated with addressing cladding-related fire risks (e.g., through insurance claims, warranties, legal action, etc.).
Buildings must meet the following criteria to qualify:
– Exceed 11 meters in height and have at least one qualifying residential leaseholder (with exceptions for social sector landlords applying due to financial viability concerns),
– Have unsafe cladding on an external wall.
